WE ACCEPT anything that Homeschoolers look for:
- Homeschool Curriculum (Either current or still commonly used editions)
- Classic Literature of all levels
- Educational Books (non-fiction, instructional, workbooks, etc) geared to children/teens
- Chapter Books/Picture Books geared to children/teens.
- High Quality Board Books/Preschool Items
- DVDs geared to Children/Teens: Educational Videos and Movies based off of Classic Books/Book Characters (for example: Rascal, The Hobbit, Clifford, etc.)
- Audiobooks on CDs
- Clean and Complete Educational Games, Puzzles, Science Kits geared to children/teens
- Musical Instruments
- High Quality Art Supplies
- Clean and Complete High Quality Toys (Wooden Toys (like Melissa & Doug), Blocks/Lincoln Logs/Building Toys, Legos, Schliech style Figurines, Die-cast Trucks/Tractors, Farm Toys, Etc.)
- Homesteading Books and Field Guides
- Apologetics Books (my daughter loves apologetics, and she is creating a well-curated apologetics section).
For obvious reasons, I cannot accept:
- Moldy/mildewy items or items that have been damaged-especially by water.
- Curriculum or books that are dated and no longer commonly used.
- Mass produced kids’ books/movies (what Charlotte Mason considers “twaddle”)
- (Except for field guides, homesteading, classics, and expressly educational books known to be used by homeschoolers), no adult books, movies, etc. or teen fiction with overtly adult themes.
Consignor Terms for Spring Peeper Homeschool Store
- You will be given a consignor number unique to you.
- Each item will be labeled with your unique consignor number, price, and the month/date it entered the store (tags will be color coded for this purpose).
- You will receive 50% of the amount collected for sold items. In most cases, this will be about 25-35% of new value for non-consumables and 40-50% of new value for unused consumables.
A few notes about this. I am basing my pricing/consignment guidelines off of Julie Helms’ very successful system at the Pennsylvania Curriculum Exchange in Dillsburg. On this point, I have been buying and selling curriculum for over 15 years and my experience is this: You can probably get more money if you are willing to sell/ship online. HOWEVER, consignment will save you hassle and consigning will usually recover more value than a homeschool swap and MUCH more than garage sale. I have done them all, and selling online, at book sales, and consigning are all excellent ways to recoup money. Consigning is the least time intensive. Do what makes best sense for you.
- Due to the huge amount of time it would take to inventory each item, items will not be inventoried into my system until they are purchased. If you would like to have a list all of your consignments, you are responsible to make it. (If you do this, I would love to have a copy and if you provide it, it will be attached to your consignor file).
- I will keep all items in the store for at least a year--- space restraints will be the biggest factor. After a year, I reserve the right to either move items into a reduced price section or pull the items from the shelves (mostly if I need space for things that are selling). If they are removed from the shelves, you will receive an email or text (based on your preference) that you have items to pick up. Unless other arrangements have been made, after 30 days, any unclaimed items will be donated to the Newport Public Library for their Friends library sales.
- Earnings checks will be available for pick up twice a year (December/January and June/July), or, if you choose, you can use your earned money as credit.
- I have insurance on the building and contents. In the event of loss due to fire or other catastrophe, any insurance settlement that I receive for contents will be divided amongst consignors after my loss is covered.
- Any updates to this policy will be sent via email to all active consignors.
